LOL

Guessn the airport iz crown land
so any final decision is thru Canberra
th@ means everything signed in triplicate n a copy in glovebox of beast...Should only take 2 - 4 years to obtain permission
Twould imagine
the sed truck would need 2 B certified
and proof of reg n insurance
also driver would need a current sercurity pass and May B escort each n every time Mr Bugly ventured in airport land

Coz we can't trust Bugly LOL

Jist yankn u're chain Bugly

Not to divert/ hijack the 1986. . . thread >:( (ya never know who's watchin') ;)
But, just quickly, the DAM probably is on crown land in the most legal sense but while it immediately adjoins the airport (it's a RAAF Base actually) it is outside the airport security perimeter.
(wuz it reelee nesisaree 4 me tu mak this powst?)
:-/

Awh, what the heck.

Great ideas guys!!! This truck was originally donated by Shell Oil to the Motor Vehicle Enthusiasts Club in Darwin ... they are based in the old QANTAS Hangar amidst lots of displayed machinery and vehicles.

As the truck was just sitting around and never used, the club stopped registering it. Every now and again someone would start it up and keep the engine working. But silly things started to deteriorate through lack of use, like the brake air system. That's when the club decided to sell the truck, and offered it to me.

My story is well told in this thread, and I believe that the truck is now back in a reliable and registrable condition. It was always intended to register this truck on 'club' rego, and when I bought it enquiries showed that it might be possible as an 'Individually Approved Vehicle'. Recently this was found not to be possible. As per the agreement with the purchase, when I found that MVR wouldn't play ball with the registration I offered the vehicle back to MVEC, and they declined as they didn't want the risk of the truck sitting around again unused and deteriorating again.

I could run the truck around for the next three years or so on permits to drive unregistered, which will be supported by MVR. Problem with this is that every trip will need to be booked in advance, and the permit arranged. I won't be able to just get in the truck and drive when I have a bit of time available. So it is now on the open market if anybody wants a Benz. I believe that it is priced very favourably and is to assist any buyer out of the NT with freight costs, where the truck will still be 'value for money' to wherever it next calls home. ;)

Just thought ... what a great truck for somebody living in rural NSW, Victoria or South Australia for bushfire season? 6200 litres of H2O, and 4X4 to boot!! ::)

Gee Bugly, This lad in Victoria would buy your "baby" in a "flash", what with 4x4, 6500 Ltrs, and Benz to boot - if I hadn't just already bought one!! But mine only carries 3000 Ltrs (little whimp!). Good luck with the sale - absolute great value. BTW, thanks for confirming the 12 volt system thing with all 911's.
Take it easy, Ian K

The Mercedes refueller was loaded out this morning on to Tenkate's drop-deck trailer ready for the trip to the new owner at Nyngan. 'Brownie' is the man behind the wheel, and Jumbo organised the backload. Thanks guys, guess this closes this chapter with Bugly's fraulein!! :-?

Well I guess your right from your point of view (end of story).
"Bye bye fraulein, good luck."

But I want to see a picture of a "Mercedes Benz LA911-B Aircraft Refueller" delivering a load of fuel at the Nyngan Airport.

I suppose its now beholden on one of us to take that picture?
One for the bucket list?
LOL

Well done Bugly.

Saved from rusty neglected ruin and put back to work.
(Surely the very best kind of Resto?)

Salute,
