Another view of my Neptune fuel delivery tanks. I have searched the internet and cannot find a picture of any oil company truck with 400 gallon demountable tanks like these on it. Does any one have photo of a truck with this type of tanks on it ?.

I worked for AMOCO during the 70s, and had 100s of these things made for the expanding country agency network. There were 400 gln units like these, 800 gln single and dual compartment, and 1200 triple compartment models. They were pretty much standard across the industry.

The depots were equipped with gantries to unload the tanks, Older depots had pivoting arms with a 2 ton chain block on the end. Later construction had a spanning gantry on A-frames with the chain block running across an RSJ beam.

They were still making them when I left in 1980, but I guess distribution methods have changed since then.
