BMG had a large fleet of the first ones, hundreds at least. We bought one after they had completely wore it out. What a POS.Small V8 Cat(1160 or 3208),Allison auto ,SLHD (SA made) Rockwells, and Rockwell front. The thing broke down twice the first day,and things got worse from there. The Allison must have broke down 100 times. We traded it on a F 86 Volvo,it broke down on the way to Wacol from Acacia Ridge.10 miles. The rep from Volvo came around,we thought "uh oh,they dont want it",but all he wanted was the passenger side seat, which we took out to make space for more tools. The F86 just went and went, best truck ever.

Did I mention the seats in them were crap.Saydair suspension seats, wore out so quick you d be rocking backwards and forwards that much youd get seasick.Ordinary bolts running in the cast ally frame.Covered the floor in chewed up ally. The cabs were hard fibreglass, all the noise in the truck echoing in the cab, front suspension so hard the wheel would bounce.Later we bought a cab forward one new with a Cat 3306 T precombustion motor. The motor would run backwards and set fire to the airfilter if you didnt watch it.The rep tried to sell us an Allison,no chance there.

..when you squint a bit, you'll see the BMG Leader has HQ Holden door handles...Only ever saw one (and it was twin steer too) amongst all the other paddle handle jobs. Not too sure of the couple of conventionals pictured here with the horizontal door handles though. ??

Here's a COE for sale at the moment with what looks like HQ-WB door handles.

I was at Pickles Auctions in Brisbane yesterday and there is an eight wheel Leader coming up. Looks like a high side tipper in pretty good order.

There was a late 6x4 high side tipper always parked in a house yard down at Hemmant?Prolly a 3306T.Of course Wally Carpenter had some early 8 wheelers as tilt trays at Hemmant, with a number in the yard for spares.remember one day he came into our yard with smoke coming from one front wheel.I said"brakes dragging",he said "look again",and I could see brake lining."Bloody wheel keeps falling off.Come off four times yesterday. We ve welded the nut on ,but it stills comes off."His trailers were banned from CBI for having unrepaired flats.CBI was a big customer of the blasters.Saw one of his drivers drive the Leader straight thru a service station garden bed one day.His son wiped out a new excavator on one of the North Coast hiway bridges.

Sharp eye there , the orange conventional one looks like a Mack door handle the other two look like a HQ type and the Brambles one looks like a Inter style

The very early ones used HQ Holden door handles and more than likely the latch assembly. The later ones used the International ones as used on the ACCO's.
