I am used to this quiz being led by Swishy; I did put up a genuine mystery once, just to get it identified. Has it now morphed into having the winner supply the next? I can, but probably not until lunchtime Wednesday.

I'm guessing that it falls to me to supply the next. I run a lot of quizzes within the railway hobby, and is a hard call to find the right balance between giveaway and impossible. In this case, I was restricted to what I have on the hard drive already.
If it is giveaway because it is your state, could you give the others a 12 h headstart before diving in [ie, wait until Thursday morning]?

Not WA, we would have 30 KPH signs out, red witches hats and traffic controllers so our gun drivers don't wander onto the rail tracks until they can install that lovely wire rope barrier they use to "protect" our rail lines.

Spence St, Cairns. Sept.1991. The railway has been relocated a block or two to the right. AFAIK the brewery changed branding (then ceased brewing?).
The train is the southbound Sunlander or Queenslander.
I don't know if Spence St was once the Bruce Hwy route through the city, or if it never was. Today's route is two or three blocks to the left.
FNQ = Far North Queensland.
