Was it a giveaway for Southbound, so offering clues without the answer?
I'm nominating Isle of Wight as the pub.
And a further cryptic answer has arrived as I post.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!
Yep, it is the "Triangle" car park at the jetty in Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria. About 15 minutes from my place. To the left of the picture is where the Isle of Wight hotel burned down about ten years ago.
I am late replying because I spent a VERY long day yesterday, three and a half hour drive each way, helping a mate play with his new AB180. Four new tyres on rims (took two of the old ones from it to get the other two rubbers), remove several buckets of wool scrags, rubbish, sand, etc. from the tray, almost won a battle with the wiring to make lights work. Did heaps of other tidy-ups. Mate has already dropped the sump and found everything amazingly clean and really good in there. 6354, clutch and brakes all work well. So I did not look a 'puter yesterday.
Had time to enjoy two coldies from my very own fridge when I got home.
Swishy, we do love "wherumeye" even if we have no clue as to where many of them are!

Have two from me, only a few months before the hotel was destroyed by fire. I had gone across by train & ferry to enjoy New Years Day in a pub where I had never eaten before. Luckily, I photographed the display panel of island ferries. Part way through lunch I looked through the picture windows, and Diamond Princess was anchoring. As soon as local-tour boat Kasey Lee was out of the way, federal immigration took control of the little finger pier, and it was fenced as a prohibited area. They could then process the visitors coming ashore by tender (the enclosed orange vessels, loading in my view).
100101F Cowes (Vic.): Cruise ship Diamond Princess, tourist ferry Kasey Lee. (Roderick Smith)
100101F Cowes (Vic.): Jetty, Isle of Wight Hotel. (Roderick Smith)
Based on railway quizzes, the winner this time is Morris, and he can have the pleasure of taxing our memories unless declaring open go. Or Swishy comes up with more. Whoever comes first.

While waiting for Morris or anyone to come up with the next quiz, here is a gap filler.
1980s Nitro advertisement, with Peter Brock. I froze a frame, and labelled it 'what ferry?'. Now I can't find the ad again, and suspect that it is a floating jetty.
My memory is that he drove up at last second, and the ferry departed. However, that may be a faulty memory.
People here may recall the ad, or know the location.

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

Brilliant find. It could well be Eildon: the pub could well be on one of those alpine roads (more homework). I suspect now that the 'ferry' is a work barge: often loaded with a crane or a scoop.
