1909 Hewitt Truck
http://digitalcollections.detroitpubliclibrary.org/islandora/object/islandora%3A176869/datastream/IMAGE/view
In 1906. the Hewitt Motor Car Company, New York City, owned by Edward Hewitt, bought the Selden license from the defunct Standard Motor Construction Company and made its first car that had a single -cylinder engine. A four-cylinder touring and a limousine was also offered. Most of the single-cylinder models were exported to Europe. The 1907 models were eight cylinders which he claimed to be the first made in America, but evidently, he did not know that the 1905 Buffum cars had eight cylinders. Trucks were also a part of the Hewitt company and it was absorbed by the Metzger Motor Car Company in 1907, the Hewitt trucks were continued until 1912 when it was absoerbed by a corporation that included the Mack trucks

Torbensen auto delivery wagon
In 1911 Joseph Oriel Eaton established a small machine shop in Bloomfield, New Jersey, manufacturing heavy-duty truck axles for the expanding automotive industry. With the help of brother-in-law Henning O. Taube and Viggo V. Torbensen, who had patented an internal-gear rear truck axle in 1902, the Torbensen Gear and Axle Company built seven axles by hand in its first year. Three years later, the company's operations were moved to Cleveland, in order to be closer to the auto manufacturers there and in Detroit. Then in 1917, by which time production had soared to 33,000, the company was sold to Republic Motor Truck Co., the largest truck maker in the country.
