The distributor on this model works, sending current to each spark plug in the firing order sequence, each plug has a tiny bulb which lights up to simulate ignition on that cylinder.

In this pic you can see the distributor and oil pump drive

These two show the simulated ignition in the cylinders

This last one is with the rocker cover off to show the operation of the valve gear

Thanks for posting these wonderful and interesting models up for all of us to enjoy. I am at a total loss for words as to the thorough detail of every component on these models and the others you have shared with us.
If something didn't quite work out in your head on how it worked these models can help you fully understand it,

Hi,

are you able to share any of the back story on where they come from, who made them and how you came to have them? I saw the post a few pages back about the model with the car chassis and wondered are they related to that one as these seem to be more generic.

Here's another teaching model made by Hohm, it's a double-acting steam engine. It's made mainly of cast iron and weighs over 20lbs.

Love the live steam stuff and have a reproduction 3 point roller made by Wilesco in Germany and along with Mamod UK there are other similar models around but that one is a beauty. At rallies some guys run them on compressed air but need to oil them up.

Here's another teaching model, this time a cutaway model showing the workings of a double acting steam engine, It's about sixteen inches long You can see the linkage from the governor to the butterfly that regulates the steam supply
