I have just rebuilt an MLD6Q box in an FSR 700. It was definitely direct in 6th. By the book, they do make a 6 speed overdrive and a 7 speed overdrive in some models.

The owner was quoted $5,000 exchange, if it only needed bearings and syncro's. Did it up, (bearings, syncro's etc), for less than half that.

Just as a thought/add on, this truck cruised at 120kms on its trip up from Melbourne. The owner figured he was pretty safe, as it had no plates on it and would be hard to trace if spotted by a camera.
Cheers, Steve.

Been away from the forum for a while and just checking my last reply, realised that I have put it exactly arse up. The MLD6Q box is DEFINITELY OVERDRIVE. They do have a direct in 6th and O/D in 7 speed. Sorry about that.
Steve.
