New owner of Ford Trader K500 1966 - new to forum

Sigh, looks like I am going to have to practice being patient still.
Tried starting. I am wondering if somehow the stop button is stuck in the pulled out position as it doesn't want to stay pushed in. Cant figure out still which is the cold start button. Gentleman was supposed to have put in a new battery before bringing me around truck but noticed a bit of a change in sound when trying to start it.
Put foot down on accelerator strongly. Noticed some whitish smoke from rear. So was definitely trying to start.
Gentleman who I bought it from will hopefully contact me Monday and will go from there.
Surrounded by people who drive trucks but no one is home

On the plus side I am now a pro at opening the bonnet. :
Also I need to drive my car over our hill to the dentist on Wednesday, Its about 25km and I am told it has 365 corners. So I am going to practice double clutching on the descent both ways. Lol. Hopefully by the time I am home I should have the rythym of it. Lol.
