This is my '68...

If you have the chassis number, jump on F Model Macks Facebook page. There's a couple guys on there with most Australian delivered records.

Is that one of those mongrel L/H to R/H conversions with either the chain steering or splined rod? That gauge cluster looks as if it has been a bit of an afterthought?

..anything with a tin dash in an F model cabover is fair game as being one of those "across the dash" steering set-ups that went down top a LH side steering box.....good to see a few survivors out there if they surface B)

It's all factory, if you remove the cover it looks like a tail shaft across the dash...

I saw a chain version when I was a teenager and it still sends shudders through me just thinking about it hahaha.

If you have a look at the LHS dash of a H model Mack, it's surprisingly similar to the RST 700 Series like mine.

Just a few extra joins to maintain...

Here's a picture I found on Facebook of what it looks like with the cover removed.

As hayseed mentioned, you can see where the factory LHS B model type dash cover plate is fitted and I think I've seen that version in RHS too.

Personally I love its quirks.

Hi Maxidyne

I have a 1980 FIR700. I don't have an interior picture of mine but found one very similar.
Looks pretty flash compared to yours, and no steering shaft across the dash!

Nice pik Timmsy, takes me back to the 80's. The 'Fat Dog' had a 285 6 cylinder and the 'Skinny Dog' had a 375 V8 GRRRR!

I'd rather have tools that I don't need, than not have the tools I do need.

G'day Timmsy,
Yeah, that's too nice for me hahaha. I think they used R model chassis on the later F's to be able to fit it all under an F model cab.

Mine's really nice to steer, you have to neatly just sit there holding the wheel straight. But it has an awesome right turning circle and dismal to the left due to the drag link wanting to rub on the tyre and foul on the shock mount.
