Ah, c'mon Swishy! You know as well as me (and most other blokes on the roads) that half the time those speed reduction signs are simply "trump catchers"! Dare I say it? Simply revenue raisers.
See it quite often up around Central Vic. They put the signs out, no one around within cooee, EXCEPT those civvy's with the little black box on the front. Working on the Ararat end of the Pyrenees Hwy recently, had a bobcat and truck working INSIDE a fenced paddock at least 80 meters off the actual road in the table-drain, still had the signs out all afternoon, left them out then knocked off.
What's the story on these civvy's doing this sort of duty anyway? Some sort of penance? Community payback for their own misdemeanours? Seriously, would you own up to your family/neighbours that this is your occupation of choice?
