Fill, nice work. That alternator looks sweet sitting in there.
I might have missed it, but what vehicle is the alternator from & will there much involved in hooking it into the electrical system. Will the new loom include this option?
Watching with interest

Hi Pierre I do not know much about alternators I went to a auto electrician that was recommend to me.
My specification was to match the other pulley wheels to have enough power to run a small heater (for my wife),a lighter port for a fridge and maybe electric fan if the motor needs it later for engine cooling in heavy traffic.
What I got was a 60 amp reconditioned Bosch alternator.
With the rest of the wiring I will be replacing most of it. The truck came with only one fuse and some of the wire sheath is very brittle, a lot of the rest looks dodgy.
Cheers Fill

Hi all I used to have a clutch alignment tool but could not find it (lost or borrowed). My brother has an all original 1972 Holden Monaro with a 253 V8. He has a gear box shaft with a broken tooth that he uses to align his clutch. He said it might fit mine it was a perfect fit in the clutch spline and in the spigot bearing ( I do not know how that works)
Today I cut and drilled a piece of steel and bolted it to the front pulley to stop the motor from turning over, then fitted the spigot bearing, bell housing, fly wheel, clutch and pressure plate -another job done.

Looking good Fill. Do we know what the original 1950's Bedford Engine colour scheme was?
Mine lost all it's paint some time ago, but there is a trace of black on the sump! Not that it matters, just curious.
Always pays to hang onto those gearbox shafts :)
Love that engine stand by the way, I have to knock one together soon.
cheers
Pierre

Hi Pierre
My engine was all black when I got it. I put a bit of grey in to break it up (black hides oil leaks).

Good day Swishy
I was not going to tell any one but you guilted me into it. A few weeks ago before I painted the engine I painted a number of bits outside but it was becoming cold so I bought them inside.
