I've seen a photo of a Super Constructor-I think it was the Quarry Industries one-fitted with a Mack V8-looked like a non turbo END864/255 h.p. in place of the original Albion/Leyland O.900 motor-actually 927 c.i.d.

Good pics there Swishy. The Constructor is of course a completely different animal which harks back to the "old" Scammell company from before Leyland days... In fact, I'd say the Contractor was a sort of an "anti-Constructor" in that it was deliberately conventional, cheaper and of a wider appeal (well at least that's what they were expecting at Leylands).
Fageol100, I'm not surprised about any such conversion, the Leyland 900 was not a common unit and parts would not have been cheap + you gained (at least) 30 hp with the Mack unit...

Tatra, I don't think those Mack V8s were great motors though either.

That's the same truck as Swishy put up a few photos back.....Quarry Industries No 2.
The motor is up in the other shed, still with the rod out the side. It looks a bit the worse for wear now.

Murray, did your KW W924R with the 12V71N and the big diffs replace the Scammell at Quarry Industries?

Yes, Kevin Fairley drove both.
I did contemplate a restoration job on the Scammell at one time but it is still not available and is deteriorating more every time I see it....a rare truck out here.
