Hello Mac
We are currently at Cockburn departing Thursday morning, we are scheduled to reach Parkes Friday PM then onto Orange Saturday.
Swishy no millimetres still kilometres. Good thing is with two on we should get about 800 metres per Volvo to a litre.

Question for Rex,

I thought you weren't permitted to go north on the Peterborough Road toward Broken Hill with an Oversized load.

Last time I went through there with Stu Taylor (@ 4m wide) we had to go through Mildura and could only get to Broken Hill via Wentworth.

I assume your load was special enough to make things happen.

Hello Zuffen
We do not get any special treatment, it is the exact opposite given a permit for an average load is issued and away we go, the conditions we must meet are reaching the unbelievable.
Since the introduction of the NHVR our permit requirements have increased on a per load basis almost, with this load alone we were short to the extent of $15,000 in our allowance for the unexpected conditions that have been imposed on this job. Rex

Hello Swishy
We know the feeling only so well with permits in Victoria, without doubt it has become the most difficult State to obtain permits. Just a suggestion take the time to apply for a long term permits, you may be surprised, one Year, two Years and would cover most of your work.
Back to our Substation it has arrived in Orange on schedule, there are some shots of it on Facebook, but for all of us who still believe in old trucks the Scammell will look after the last hundred metres to ensure we complete the task safely.
