Hi All
Just received my first lesson in metal hardening, or lack of it. A friend made me a new peg for the steering sector shaft.........guess I should've hardened it!!! Oh well, lesson learned.
Cheers

Max....I can relate to the steering problems.
We had a Kew Fargo new in 1949? By 1960 it took 3 turns on the steering just to take up the slack.
Back then you could still get the steering parts.
It must have been a weak part in the design of the truck.
Good luck with the new machined part and the case hardening.Maybe get two made....It was the pin always warn out ,not the worm..Regards SteveB
