Dave,

Fantastic stuff.

I could not believe the 6 wheel Morris team at the start, did not know they took film of it. Michael Terry's first trip across Australia in a straight line from Port Headland to Melbourne in 1928. 25 years before Len Beadell went in to the centre with his great track building explorations.

This absolute heroic effort is little known as is Michael Terry who, despite writing many books on his Australian explorations, has faded from memory.

I have been working on a fellow in Victoria for 15 years to buy his 1928 Morris 6-wheeler to recreate Terry's trip. I hope I am getting close from our last conversation.

This thread should be in the historic section.

Below are some photos of Michael Terry expeditions.

He was first across Northern Australia (Winton to Broome in a Model-T in 1923)

Then did numerous heroic trips - Port Headland to Melbourne, Darwin to Broome (used Guy 6 wheelers with detachable half-tracks), Adelaide to Darwin, the Lasseter expedition etc etc. Sometimes with camels, sometimes with cars but mostly with trucks.

I think there is little doubt he was Australia's foremost vehicle explorer/pioneer, eclipsing Aunger- first across Australia S/N Adelaide to Darwin, MacQuarrie - first to Cape York and first person of any nationality to drive around the world (in an Austin 7!), Birtles - first across Australia W/E then numerous cross Australia trips before first to drive England to Australia and finally Beadell - surveyor explorer who opened up central Australia with a network of roads in the 50's.

Cam,

Not until you told me. Wonder where you get the original films that these clips are taken from?
