A little Freighter trailer

Been pretty quiet on here of late, so a short story

At 12.28 PM on the 18th November 2023

I recieved a message as to enquiring about if I  could shift a old trailer

17' 8" wide and about 60' long

it had two narrow bridges to cross and I  was gunna need pilot vehicles for sure

So the 3rd of February we finally got our act together enough to go and have a look
measure things up, like the actual trailer, bridge's, roads and so on

In my normal cock sure way I announced

"piece of cake"

so some more farnarkling about and the weekend just passed was agreed to be the ideal time for such silliness

long weekend for most, double demerit points and so on

so leading up to the weekend things get kinda hectic collecting, planning, organizing and reorganizing

so the day arrives, we meet up and off to a bad start, Mrs Mack is outt a air ?

It's 3° and pretty frosty, air starts dont work very well in frost conditions as things tend to freeze

anyway we soon got going and toodled along for a hour or so to the little trailer

I was stunned how small the truck and float was as pulled up along side

so with help of a front end loader and Mrs Macks winch, the use of jacks and blocks of wood we were loaded up in maybe 4 hours or so

So we chain it all down and have to wait for the pilot vehicles the next day

next morning, as in yesterday we arrive at sun up and start chucking air in the floats tyres as they are kinda buldging a tad

chuck flashing lights on and flags and all that jazz

then we head off

stopped to checked the load then into it on the highway

then had a turn or two

Then the road narrowed and things got a tad skinny

a little bridge had to be crossed

after a couple of tries and with ARMCO railing singing a interesting tune I was thru

then another close bridge over the Murray

Then off into town and up the main HWY a bit before a extremely tight tight TIGHT left off the HWY

and the another tight tight squeeze down the drive

Most importantly, I was off the HWY

Some more tight turns and shifting stuff

I was backing into were the trailer was to be unloaded

And then I  managed to find a old set of diamond harrows camouflaged in the grass and Mrs Mack got a flat tyre

anyway, the tyre was quickly changed and things unhooked and justed so the trailer axles and wheels can be re fitted over the next week or so I cab remove the float

Anyway hope this is of some entertainment, if it only gives you a chuckle

let me know if the video's work

Paul

All good then, so what's the plan now, I need one of those freighter hubs, If you had any idea how much those ali hub caps are worth you would have pulled them all of and put the in the cab with you to keep them safe.

Loui I have no more plans, it's not my trailer, I'll allow the owners to refit tyres and axles and then unload it

Grumpy I crossed at Murrabit

Yeah, I guess thats stage three of this job

Putting the house on the trailer and so on

Might be a few week's away before that happens

Could well turn into a few months before I get that far along

Possibly even years lol
