What to see in California

Hi all,
I'm taking the new bride to the USofA for a honeymoon of sorts and was hoping that some of you fine gentlemen may be able to recommend sites to see (involving trucks naturally) at this stage the itinerary takes in San francisco, Yosemite NP, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, and LA, but still have time to spare. So any suggestions on truck related detours wil be appreciated.

PS - sorry no room to bring home spare parts in the suitcase

Hi IHScout, there is a ATHS National Convention & Antique Truck Show in May 27-29 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California.
In Las Vegas my wife and I stayed at the Excalibur Hotel-Casino and went to the Imperial Palace to see the Classic Auto Collection, mainly cars and a few rare trucks. I hope you both have a great time there, we certainly did.

PS: If you do go to Las Vegas and take a walk down the strip at night you might bump into Candy give her my regards :-* :-*. And then you go out the next night and she the same person could be Sandy :-* :-*.

Can recommend the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum. Big on Freightliner but other trucks as well. Also displays of other equipment including a CAT section and old trams!

Just south of Portland, Oregon which in itself is a very nice stay. As a Melbourne person I felt pretty comfortable staying Portland for two weeks for work. Staying just on the north side of town with a couple of good restaurant streets nearby. Even have a tram line.

Top drive out to and around Mount Hood, down the valley to the Columbia River and back to Portland. If'n your into trains there's the Mount Hood Railroad.

Just checked and the area I was staying and working in is called Northwest District. Good description including the names of the two restaurant streets in this Wikipedia entry:

Con-Way, formerly Consolidated Freightways and creator of the Freightliner, still has a large administration and IT facility in the area.

Thanks Rod. Heading that way next week. Have already spent a few days in San Francisco and drove across to Yosemite nationl park yesterday. Trying to stay off the freeways and have seen some older trucks as aa result. Not many photos though.

On Soledad Canyon Road, about a mile west of the Agua Dulce Canyon Road turnoff, you can see the eastern end of the tunnel alongside which Mann attempts to help the stalled school bus.
He finally trashes the monster at Soledad Canyon, off Route 14 toward Ravenna.

Had to change our itinery because the road over the mountains we were going to take was closed due to heavy snow (I hadn't thought of California having snow!). So found ourselves cruising along Soledad Canyon Road today. Quite an interesting drive and we stumbled across the Los Angeles fire department storage yard for old fire trucks. I kept checking the mirrors but no big Peterbilt tankers followed me!!!
The coffee over here is crap. Next time I'll bring my own espresso machine and beans. Stopped at a donut shop on Soledad Canyon Road and asked for two coffees, one a latte and the other a Capaccino! The waitress said "oh so you don't want coffee then"! "What flavour do you want for your cupaccino and latte, French vanilla, mocca, or caramel?" I said can't we have coffee flavoured? No our machine doesn't do coffee flavour!!!! We tried the mocca flavour and it was like a warm choclate milkshake.
