A model bedford ute was created by mrsdodgy
Hi, you have a newbie here so hopefully I won't cause too much stress. We have purchased an A model Bedford single wheel styleside ute. Just wondering if anyone knows where we can get the rubbers/seals for all the glass? Also any other tips for parts or any other info would be appreciated. The body ID is A-CAB-10683, Chassis A2C 78768, Engine A2A3 68934. Can't find a year on it. If I can work out how to post photos, I will

Hello mrsdodgy, and welcome to the forum. Where are you located? I've never seen an A-2 Bedford styleside utility in Australia. Are you in the U.K.?
There was a nice little D-2 Beddy traytop on eBay Australia recently. It was a nice little truck, and it was nearly finished, as regards restoration.
The traytops are the only Bedford A-2 body styles that were offered in Australia.
EDIT - O.K., I've just Googled "Rainbow Beach" and I see you're in QLD. How did you manage to acquire a styleside A-2 Bedford? Was it a private import?
The A-series Bedfords were built from 1953 to late 1956.
Cheers - Ron.

Here's a bloke who has (unfortunately, to me :'( ) hot-rodded an A-series Bedford. It has a styleside ute body, but I don't believe its factory, it appears the owner built it from scratch.

Not that rare Ron (but rare enough), if you look closer it's actually the ute body of an Inter on it. There is one at Prices as well, ex- air force or something or other origonally, I can't remember the whole story.
EDIT, after looking at more pics of the other one he has made the ute body udsing Inter gaurds.

Cam, that one in your pic doesn't appear to be factory .. it appears to have had the Inter styleside ute body fitted by the owner .. as evidenced by the strips of metal that have been inserted to widen the guards.

O.K. .. at great personal expense (I had to go out into the garage, and wade through my bookcases, to find my A-series Bedford manuals .. ) .. I have scanned the ID page for the A2.
Yes, there was a "pick-up" (styleside), but I'm convinced .. until someone produces evidence to the contrary .. that the pick-up body style for the A2, was never offered on Australian-production Bedfords.
The sad fact is that mrsdodgy's chassis prefix of A2C, indicates that her vehicle left the factory as a cab-chassis .. and that a tray or other style of body (van?) was probably fitted originally .. and that the styleside body on her truck has possibly been procured from another vehicle (Dodge or International?) and fitted later.
If her truck was a genuine factory pick-up, it would have a chassis prefix starting with A2P .. and it would look like this ..

It definatly is an Inter body Ron, and old mate has used Inter gaurds on the hotrod one in your link, but I was told the air force or some mob like that got some J1's or similar sort of Bedfords with the well type body. Not sure if it was done here using the Inter bodies or they were factory or it's a myth.

G`Day
There were many A2 wellbased utes in the pommy Air force this could have come here to Oz when the Pommy airfeild construction branch were in Woomera for the rocket trials in the 50,`s and has been fitted with Inter body in civvy street at a later date.

Bigcam, that pic is the one we bought from Prices at Dalby. You lot certainly have a great deal of useful information that we would never have known otherwise!! So the back is off an inter, that should make it easier to match up some new rear guards. Thanks for all your help so far, don't stop though, this is great!!
