Tell me Swishy,do you dress like Les Farvis when your unloading or refuelling?Do you think that dress standards have slipped over the years?The`re great pics mate,that Wittenoom pic would make a few do gooders cringe today.The first pic of the Dodge-they were a good looking bit of gear wern`t they?

So Pete,do you reckon the S line had a 6V92 in it?,the fuel companys likes light weight prime movers and that was a light motor.FH transport had the largest fleet of Louisvilles in Australia in the 80`s,and a big swag of them had 6V92`s in them,fitted with alloy tippers and super dogs when they had a Brisbane City Council contract.They sold out to Aztec/Boral.

Quite likely a 6V92, they were fanatical about weight. Even ran 6x2 prime movers here for a while.

What about going right baaaa-aack? .. to the days when wool carting was big business .. and earthmoving was in its infancy? ..

Around 1952 and 1953 .. pics of Bell Bros trucks in action .. when it was the original Bell Brothers, and they were the BIG truckers of the West .. along with the ERF and Michelin agencies .. and they advertised the products they sold, by putting them to work ..



A load of wool from Meekatharra .. this was a good load, even for wool. Bales ran about 200kgs on average in those days, and I think I worked out about 63 or 65 bales on the truck and about 26 or 28 on the trailer .. notice the very early Michelin radials, which outperformed the crossply tyres of the era, particularly in the heat of the North of W.A. ..



Your new tipper awaits .. a lovely old ERF with 6LW Gardner, epicyclic cogbox, and air-conditioned cab, via hinged front windows .. fully fitted up with the latest and greatest in an all-steel tipper body, complete with wooden hungry boards ..



Now, something for Swishy .. a single row of 8, low loader (probably a Martin Nixon), with your new ERF attached .. complete with all the features of the tipper. This rig was probably rated for around 35 tons gross combination, and was capable of transporting the biggest dozer of the time, the mighty 19 tonne (bare), Cat D8 ..
