I CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING & STILL HAVE MOST OF IT.........................
I used to be a truck driver,
but i am now not a truck driver ,
on a good day i can remember
that i used to be a truck driver.
A truck drivers worst nightmare was created by BillyP
South of Nowendoc on Thunderbolts Way came on this last week.
took some photos of a truck accident that had been partly cleared up.
go to (Truck accident Thunderbolts Way) if you want photos that are a bit more graphic.
Six Ks of all down hill steep run, with no reprieves once you are comitted.
Two emergency run offs , if you hit them a bit quick you would bury
your self into the ground any way.
Two blokes are headen down the range when the back bloke gets into trouble
(for what ever reason)
So he elects to lean up against the front bloke (a mutual decision).
The front bloke tries to hold them both back & things go horribly wrong.
They lean against the wall as much as they can till the trucks flip &
slide through the amco railing, plummeting over the side & down the
45 degree mountain slope.
The front bloke pays the ultimate price & two in the back truck end up
in hospital.(a miracle that they survived ).

The back truck at this stage has been removed from the site.
All the shrapnel that had been strewn back along the
road for some distance had been cleared up too.

You only hope & pray that it doesnt happen to you.
But every body has their memories of some close calls unfortually.
As i said earlier there is some pretty graphic photos
on the (Thunderbolts Way Truck Accident) site.
You just hope you never see something like that ever again.

Billy is it a shortcut to some where as the road seems to be a minor one by your pics . Dave

in a car that road can save you time say for example from Newcastle to Armidale ..it saves (from memory) about 80kms from using the New England highway (& all its various speed zones & congestment) ..in a truck well theres to many hills Between Gloucester & Nowendoc ..but from Nowendoc to Walcha its magestic countryside.. anyway on Thunderbolts way its not just that 6km downhill run theeres also about 3 hairpin turns in other sections leading to single lane causeways .. i did over run my brakes once on that road (in a Chrysler Centura) in a truck well id admit i would of become a "former forum member"

Jakes aint jist there for the noise
a jake in the right gear U can run any hill with out tuch n the brakes
(th@ is providing the same truck can also go up the same hill with same load)

Deadly,
Yeah, by the pics it looks minor , but although its not super wide at that
area, mainly because of the terrain, to make it wider you would have to
literally move mountains. I suppose you could say it is a short cut, but
it is a main road through Gloucester onto Walcha etc . So it gets a lot of
traffic of all sorts.
