Are you looking for the pre war 40x8 size? Most 24" will be offered are either large USA type or grader style rather than the skinny vintage ones. If you find a supplier of pre war sizes let me know as I am after some as well. 36x6 and 33x5 from memory.

I thought a normal 20 inch tyre would fit, but am I now in need for some new rims.... this is an old front axle, spring & chassis I was using for a 1000 litre water cart...

The vintage tyre sizing can be confusing as there were two systems, but both based on a tyre being as high as it was wide. So, in Sarge's case the tyre is 32" overall diameter and 6" wide. Minus two times the height of 6" gives you the rim size of 20". The modern size would be 6.00X20.
In the other case 40" minus twice 8" gives the rim size of 24".

Thanks for that WY. I suspect the Miller tyres are 90% aspect ratio so although they would fit on the rim they are not the vintage size being sought after. The Lucas one is the real deal but me and the bank manager aren't that friendly just yet.

Sarge, a 7.50x20 wouldn't look out of place on your wheel.

thanks Mammoth, for what I am using it for I could just about run on the rim, the busted one makes it walk like a drunk duck and shakes the tractor about, so a change is in order. ;D
