Ok just a small update I was going to take the front sheet metal of today but was offered the use of an industrial pressure cleaner to remove years of greese and mud . I'm amazed at the amount of crap that came of it lol

With my AR I figured that stuff that didn't come off with a pressure washer after 50 years wasn't going to come off in a hurry. My actions were to pressure wash it, sand any rough spots, liberally coat the lot with rust converter twice then paint it. That was the year of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games(2006?) and no problem areas have shown up yet!

Thanks for your advice you've made up my mind as its going to be my daily driver

Cab removal... Unbolt the doors first then take of the front clip off, I like to take as much off as possible the steering colum can be tricky but when you think it through the whole job is pretty easy just keep un bolting and lifting

Hi AT4114, how did you go getting the pin out of the spring hanger? Not that I know how to help you anyway, but just hoping to hear that you made progress.

Hi scout managed to work out the shackel pins are keywayed with a roll pin then they are a press fit the only trouble is its hard to pull it out after 50 :-[ so a truck mechanic mate helped today . The way around this problem was to drill out the rivets that hold the shackel mounts to the chassis so they can be pressed out on a hydrolic press then I can re bolt the mounts with hight tensile bolts . I imagine the inter utes the same size would have the same set up i will post some update pictures cheers Bryant

G'day. The Inters actually have a quite different setup with greasable shackles. They don't like to come apart after 50 years, either! Looks like the same rails, though. And the curved crossmember looks the same. You will also find IH in the front cab mount brackets.
Cheers, ASW.
