Hi All,
Can anybody point in to a good supplier for 10.00 x 20 bar tread type tyres to put of a Ford Blitz
Antique tyres a ludicrously expensive.
I can get 7.50 x 20 but would prefer a bit bigger with a chunky tread pattern
any Help appreciated

Remember the Blitz rims are flat and American and all modern tyres are tapered beads. Does not make a difference (some blokes grind the inside of the tyre to flatten it but usually not necessary) but sometimes takes a bit of an effort to release when changing tyres. With a Blitz and new tyres you will be dead and gone by the time that is required.

Thanks for the advice, sounds like 9.00 are a better option. I’ve only recently purchased the truck so still learning
Mine currently has 7.50 x 20, it’s running dual rear wheels

The dual wheels were fitted after the war so people could carry a legal load. The military never had duals.
Usual size was 7,50-20 just using standard civilian British bolt pattern wheels.
If you want to go to singles you can easily find wheels on military club and web sites.
Just a thought, that truck looks almost like the 30cwt mid wheelbase that they used for ambulances and specialist vehicles.
These had 10.50-16 wheels or 10,00-20 on later ones
Go on the MLU Forum (Maple Leaf Up) this has everything anyone in the world knows about CMP's (Canadian Military Pattern) or Blitz. There are links on there to some outstanding Australian Blitz sites as well.

I had a LWB-F60L ,and used 12.00x20s on it ......mainly because ex army tyres were as cheap as 50c each ,if you struck a lucky day at the auction.........I used to buy hundreds of the 12.00s when the price was right ,as sometimes they would go for as much as $50 each, and thats what I used to sell them for.

Some times ,the truck tyre place at Hemmant used to have military lug type 10.00x20s that came off new forklifts ......they were replaced with slicks ..........apparently the military type tyres were the equivalent of banded on wooden pieces, that you see on new tractors.............for delivery only.
