Grummet bodywork was created by Jbadger
I am compiling an index of Victorian coachbuilders 1835 - 1960 which will eventually go online via the State Library of Victoria and be available free to researchers.

I am trying to find more information about the Brunswick firm of Grummet who started around 1902 and I believe moved into motor body construction after WW1. Can anyone in your club point me towards sources of information/photos etc?

They built a few buses in their time, so maybe some of the very knowledgeable people on the Bus Australia forum (Aust Transport Discussion Board) could clue you in there.

The also built a lot of fire engines for the Melbourne Fire Brigade, so the experts at the Fire Museum might have some details.

Interesting subject. While not Grummet there is some good Victorian historic stuff that jbadger probably already has. I am sure if he keeps looking there will be Grummet information.

Caution : If you put in Body Builders Victoria you will be blocked by the anti-porn barrier!

Just a few photos - the list goes on and on. It seems every town and Melbourne suburb had a coach builder. Sad to realize that within about 20 years 90% of them were gone and by the mid thirties only a fraction of those who transitioned to motorcar bodies also were left.

Here are some of the survivors who took up the motor car challenge. Tarrants were the Ford importer and distributor before Ford set up their own operation in Geelong in 1921. The Model T's had Australian Tarrant (and others) bodies from a very early date.
