Alice Springs 2015

Hi all .. it's only a few months now to the 2015 reunion at the RTHOF in Alice Springs in August, and apparently it'll be a cracker ...

.....among other things there is to be a big get together of all the South Aussie McDonald's Transport people, drivers and crew from way back in the day to their fairly recent closure ...

...it will be a pretty important event as well for the identities that will probably either be too frail, or no longer around for the next big one in 2020....so with that in mind contact was made with Laurie O'Neil... importer of the Peterbilts into Australia in the early 1960's... and at close to 90 years of age, was asked by his avid friends if he would consider being inducted into the Road Transport Hall of Fame....his response was a positive one...YAAAAAAY!!!

...as a happy consequence I'll be travelling with his son Michael across country on a fantastic road trip from Mittagong to The Alice for Michael to accept the induction on Lauries' behalf....who, while in excellent health, has at this point declined to be present on the day.

...hopefully a few more nominations for the many shy, retiring truckies and other identities who forged our road transport history early on will also come about with this latest and greatest reunion event.

.....what a trip it will be!
