Sterling trucks

Does anyone know if Sterling trucks ever came out here to Australia
Not talking about the modern jobbies, the older ones say from the turn of last century to the mid 50's

I have never seen one in Australia, even in a photo but that doesn't mean much

I would of thought some may of made it out here during WW2

I believe there is an ex US Navy Sterling wrecker that belongs to a Victorian collector.

Officially they were never sold here.... But during WW2... Who knows what was imported fir the war effort.

Thats what I was thinking, been chain drive (not all but a lot were) they were way over width so probably had little value after the war

Came across a Sterling truck Facebook page a while ago and found this as I was drooling on down thru the pages

I know it makes little to any sense to anybody else but to me it's just WOW, isntant love affair, the othet woman if you know what I mean

Kind of off topic , the huge steer tyres and the front ones on the drive, in almost every truck from around that era had them , they look huge in some pictures, anyone that can clue me up ? Jim

At a guess they are not meant to be there, not with that small amount of clearance between front and rear tyres. I think they were fitted just to put tyres on there that held air.
