Peter Lynch discusses the naming in his book on the ACCO.
Re the AACO:- "International Harvester advertising during the 70's used the term Australian A-Line Cab Over so this must be taken as the official meaning"
1961 "The AACO172 used the military style cab ...........
From what Peter says no one is wrong in these theories and it was a case of what stuck at the time rather than a true naming system, so koala stamps all round.
282 engine came later

Mammoth, i think the AGD 282 engine was around from at least the Mk3 as Lang mentions, if not before. The 6-282 came later.
