Good catch Hayseed
I have never seen one except in photos
I doubt they would of lasted a long time behind a Mack on the rough riding camel backs

There is a reason for the rarity, I doubt any have stayed together into the present.
There was a bloke with one of those trailers, complete with aluminium gates, loading coffee out of Gympie. The forklift driver wizzed around the back of the trailer, cleaning up the gates and spreading them all over the loading bay. The truckie, justifiably went right off. The forkie, who was always a bit of a highly strung princess, burst into tears, ran into the lunch room and downed all the Panadol, then ended up in hospital. Confusion reigned in dispatch that day.
Anyone else use to load out of the coffee factory? You'd have to know the forkie of who I speak.

Photo from Jimmy on Flickr. In the 90's/2000 Herd Bullbars started building aluminium flat top trailers at Kemblawarra near Pt Kembla. Mannway had a couple of them carting steel from BHP Pt Kembla. I

Freighter I believe had a go at building aluminium trailers as well

The idea is good, as long as they can be made tough enough for Australian conditions

Road Museum, Port Pirie.
Aluminium tray on Leyland Marathon.
Left side bent down at rear a little, but otherwise good condition.
