I have just been contacted by a bloke looking for bits for his 1942 Chev truck just bought from a 96 year old? farmer or his family.
Coming with the truck was a newspaper cutting which was relevant to the vehicle. The soldier in question (obviously a dickhead) has scratched his name and number on the glovebox lid. Not 100% proof but very good circumstantial evidence are the repairs to the front bumber irons and mudguard.
These lawyers are all mouth. If the magistrate was such a fine fellow and distressed about the soldier being punished twice against British justice he could have let him off with a civil warning to be dealt with by the army.
Here is the scene of the crime. Old George must have had a sure footed horse and kept a good seat in the saddle to withstand a truck crashing into his plinth!
George has been demoted, shoved off to the side under the palm trees and put on a steel box to protected him from drunken army truck drivers.
