I've recently Purchased this Trailer, & got It home on Tuesday.
As you can see It's fairly straight & unmolested.

I've had a few Fruehauf trailers over the years, But I've never seen these cast hangers & rocker boxes.

Can anyone tell Me ,when they changed over to this Pressed type of hanger/rockerbox????

Looking at your photos Hayseed,I would say that your deck is around 1973 as it looks the same as my 34 footer.Same rear end, tail lights, coming rail etc.But the Bogie assembly looks much older.Mine has the compliance plate on the left side with serial no and date. Can you find anywhere on a cast bit of the Bogie that might have Fruehauf imbossed in the cast.
Cheers Ron

Guys
FWIW

We bought a 2nd hand Fruehauf extendable semi (37'-57')
in 1972 n it twas a few years old then
and looks more modern than the above pix
it had a more refined slide n pin set up and with the pineapple shaped plastic hub/bearing caps
so guessn ours twould B mid to L8 60's

Ronny, I know the plate you're talking about But It's missing from this trailer.
Both beams have been repaired just behind the Skid plate.
if you look at the 4th pic down,On the Rocker hanger you can see some embossed writing. It says Fruehauf & a part No.
I'm inclined to agree with Swishy's call of Late 50's early 60's.
The Axles are the early I beam Fruehauf.& the top is 35'X8'

I was just Hoping someone could tell Me when they stopped using the cast Suspension & released the Pressed/fabricated Suspension.
I might have to ask the yanks!

Hayseed what type of hubs are on your trailer? Have you any photos of the hubs? I tend to think the Bogie assembly is a lot older than the deck.I posted some photos of our older trailer on Debos thread showing an obviously early stile of hub and the combing rail has straight sides but this one has a different air bag suspension to Debos but I don't know the age of this one.

Hayseed, In as much as it worries me to agree with Swishy, you never know what he will come up with if he thinks he is right about something. But given my first encounter with Fruehauf was in 1965 with a 4 or 5 year old Trailer, I was 19 at the time, that would give the Trailer late 50s or early 60s. The Trailer had the square axles with the threaded hub cap. I would therefore put it at somewhere in the 50s, I did come by a Dolly years ago with the I beam axle, not sure of the whereabouts now but might still have some bits.
What you have there is a piece of History and deserves to be restored, Fruehauf built very good Trailers and in many ways were ahead of the competition with their engineering and design.

...you can tell she's pretty old also by the individual rear lights in their recesses...combination tail/stop/blinkers were a new thing early 1960's...??
