Got no idea but I suspect original trailers used 'bought in' axles from BPW & fitted them to their body/chassis.

Mid '60s Fruehauf axles were very different than ProPar, and had hardened bearing seats and a thicker/stronger axle tube than the soft crap used and produced by Freighter.
Mid '60s Freighter axle was the MkV with quite small bearings, similar type crap two piece cam shaft bushes and a replaceable (felt/rubber) seal runner in the hub... MkV had the diecast Alloy 5 bolt hubcap with cork gasket, Fruehauf had the pressed steel 3 bolt cap.
Circa early '70s the Pro Par was introduced and Freighter went with a mix of Rubery Owen/Rockwell stuff that was also under designed for our conditions... Decent wide bearing BPW stuff wasn't really introduced or used until the late '70s and was imported from Germany where as the Freighter and Fruehauf stuff was by then being produced locally.
