I know there was an AB120 4wd and a C1300 4wd ( slightly heavier rating) but I didnt know of a AB130 4wd. It probably would be ex factory, as yours is late in the AB series, might just be a C1300 4x4 essentially. See what the model number is on the build plate, if it incudes a W ie ABW130 that is Inter speak for 4x4.
Someone might have a spec sheet which would be all the proof you need. What is the gross weight ?

In the Fred W Crismon book "International Trucks 100 years 1907-2007.
It mentions the 1964 AB-110 and 120 chassis, and there was a 4X4 model on the AB-120 as well.
But no mention of the AB130

I have got a list of Inter models in the back of my book " The ACCO An Aussie Icon" and I didnt come across an AB130 4x4 when compling it. Not to say there isnt one.
Inters did a lot of special builds for fleets and government departments but I think yours might be a C1300 4x4 that got out a bit early. If anyone has the old truck and bus magazines for 1965 or 66 there may be a mention of that one being introduced.

Dear All,

AB130 4X4

An old post but, this is a model that my dad drove in the early 1960's. I had decided that this model did not exsist and that his memory had failed. I told him that it would be either an AB120 4x4 or AB160 4x4. He said that he was sure that during his time that they had a vehicle upgrade from AB120 4x4 to a vehicle with "a higher number". I had all but dismissed his memory because nobody could confirm an AB130 4x4. But I bought an AB spare parts manual, and in the front cover they discribe an AB130 4x4. It seems to be an upgraded AB120 4x4 with bigger axles and springs etc. So it seems that dad memory was not wrong. I thought it must have been a special model for government departments, but I have now found an Inter retail advert for an AB130 4x4. Seems it does exsist!

Cheers David

I have a November 1962 AB-series service manual, and it does not list an AB-130 4 x 4.
AB-120 4 x4 and AB-160 4 x 4 are listed .. but definitely no AB-130 4 x4.
Thus, it must have been a fairly late introduction in the AB-series range.

Back in the days when petrol was about 30 cents a gallon, I was doing my apprenticehip with the Department of Civil Aviation in Adelaide. They had quite a number of AB130 4X4 Inters then, mainly being used for survey work in the northern part of SA and also up in the territory. They were gradually phasing them out with later model Inters. The AB130's that came into the workshop were all checked over and sent to the auctions, and there were some real tidy units amongst them.
