Plastic eyes

I guess most on the forum are getting on and as such, their eyesight isn’t what it used to be.
I just had one eye’s cataract removed and fitted with a replacement lens.
Pretty bloody good. The difference is absolutely astounding.
Old eye, white was apparently cream/brown, I had no idea.
Now white is brilliant white.
Check up on the following day, with new eye I could read the bottom line of the chart, could only get to 3rd bottom previously with my glasses.
Some friends said colours became more brilliant, haven’t noticed that.
I’m booked in for the other eye on Friday, all happens pretty fast.
Can’t do any dirty work for a while, mowing etc is out.
Anyone else had a similar outcome?

That second eye is when I saw a big improvement, surgeon said because both are working together.

Have friends who only got one eye done. Apparently your brain works it all out.
Others get one distance lens and the other eye close up, again the brain figures it out.
I opted for both distance jobs, will get close up glasses for welding etc.
But the brightness improvement, wow.

A few years ago I took my Father-In-to have Cataract surgery on both eyes. He did not appear to notice any improvement but he had dementia and did not always make sensible comments on anything.
I mentioned to the nurse that I could not keep my eyes open for any work on them and could not cope with surgery. She said "That is OK we can strap your head so you cannot move." I told her that would make it worse but she could not understand. I said that if I have to have eye surgery I would have to have a general anaesthetic (put me to sleep) but she still could not understand. I just hope that if I ever do have to have eye surgery she is not involved!

I often have problems with this program changing thing I write and this time it has deleted the word "Law" from Father-In-Law."
It just added a"w" to Law and when I deleted it the Quotation marks disappeared as well.
I corrected that and when I wrote "as" it changed it to "at"

I can only assume gthat comouters hate me.
I typed "that computers hate me" and you can see what it did.

Morris mate they give you a partial anaesthetic, no pain.
Drops in eyes for about half an hour before hand then the semi sleepy anaesthetic.
All done and dusted in a very short time, wheeled back, get dressed, cup of coffee, sandwiches and get driven home.
Return next day for eye test, check up etc., get the OK to drive if necessary.
Have to take it easy for 6-weeks though, no bumps or knocks or the lens could move.
Seems every surgeon has a different method. From my friends and relatives, none have had the same surgery or recovery.
But we all noticed huge improvements.
How long since you had yours done David?

Had them over six years ago, still needed glasses for reading. Distance and TV good until last year when having medical due to my age for drivers licence found deterioration in the always weaker eye.
A visit back to the doctor who did the operation had him remove some scar tissue with laser .
I think it,s better, see how I go at next annual medical in December.

I can see what you meant about having both eyes working together.
When driving, I feel like closing the old eye as it’s a bit out of focus, whereas the new job is clear.
Anyway after Friday they will both go online.

Well the second was a bit of a fail. Had been damaged some years ago and that’s that.
Message here is if you have a foreign object in your eye, don’t go to a doctor as they simply don’t have the gear.
Go straight to hospital, say the magic words, foreign object in eye, and you go straight to the head of the line.
The doctor had dug so poorly that when I did go to hospital that same night, the nurse said the eye was a poofteenth from blind, he’d dug way too deep.
Anyway the not so good eye is still way brighter than previously, so it’s not all bad news.
