Dave here is the doco you mentioned. Buick with Diesel engine. Wonder what Landrover?

Look at this great politically incorrect clip. To think how remote Australia was within our lifetime. Almost every spot he went to is infested with caravans or off-road trailers today.

Thats fantastic Lang, I assume there is a whole documentary somewhere
Australia was a very different place not so long ago, and yes the joint is lousy with caravans these days, everyine keen to get away from it all and when they get there the place is filled up with every other joker trying to get away from it all

If you Google it Adams is selling his video on line (he must be in his 90's)
Might just ad the Buick does not come under the hotrod category with the diesel - why???? - as it was only 8 years old.

When clearing out our Holiday Home we sold in March I came across his book.
Most interesting read (for the second time). Unfortunately the book has gone to charity.

I can't tell you the engine but Perkins sounds familiar.
I know it had separate cylinder heads as he drove for quite a while on 3 cylinders.

Well book and DVD arrived a week ago
Have read the book
Was a Perkins 6 cylinder in the Buick
No mention of the what type of Perkins but been out of a Commer truck and the film was made in 1955 I reckon a P6 or R6 would be the motor
Done some Googling truing to find dates of manufacturing but got side tracked
A P6 Perkins held the land speed record for a diesel powered car
Always learning things
