Most of that came from Kurt Johannsens book, Son Of The Red Centre. What a great read that is.

If you guys are looking for a couple of books about trucking in the NT 50s to 80s
you can't go past "Birdum or Bust",Bob Foster and "Beyond Birdum",Foster and Renehan.
You will have seen Horse mention Bob Foster in his writings on this forum. And Horse's
mail truck is pictured in one of the books.Bob's input deals with his own adventures with
Kittles,CoOrd(Fleet Owners) and Aust.Blue Metal (ABM).Fleet Owners and ABM were both
O'Neill outfits and big Foden users in the era.O'Neills also owned Diesel Motors (Fodens).
Kev.Renehan's piece is his story in the Territory which crosses over with Bobs and
encompasses the better part of 40 years involvement with the Buntine Family companies.
(Roadways,Freightways,VRT)
Some photos in each.Good read.
Both books available from Seaview Press,SA
