Confusion over regulations

Hi Guys. Well I did email the RTA and eventually got this reply;

Hi Rod,

All vehicles over 8 tonnes GVM are required to enter checking stations within NSW. Please note this is the manufacturers gross vehicle mass rating which is the overall allowable weight for that vehicle. For example, the average three axle prime mover would have a GVM of approximately 22.5 tonnes. The weight that you have supplied appears to be an unladen vehicle mass (tare weight) and not GVM. The best way to ascertain the GVM of a vehicle is either from the vehicle compliance plate or the registration papers.

You are also required to carry and complete a work diary and comply with the new heavy vehicle fatigue laws is your vehicle is 12 tonne GVM or greater.

Kind regards,
