Clearly the guy is convinced that he is not guilty. Why does it cost such stupid amounts to have the matter heard by a court? In reality it seems like you do not have the right of appeal against an on the spot fine.

How come it took the courts three days to hear the trial - surely he would have just said "I wasn't speeding" and the opposition or DPP simply "Yep, ya waz". Three days at trial, now that is dumb.
I'd have rolled over at ten minutes "yeah, OK, ya got me. ::)."
