Some big stuff there.
Looking at that Calsun bin, what do you reckon the chute does that fires out to the right from the top of the bin in your picture?
Also how's the conveyor belt take up frame. Would need lots of shear pins on that one.
Belt repair must be a nightmare.

For anyone interested - there is a few pages of story on the Rockhampton coal carters (as per my photo above) in the latest (just came in the mail) Truckin Life 2013 Year Book.
The actual unit I photographed appears in the article - with the pics taken with it sitting in the presact same place.
But the article covers a lot more than that one.

Smiths at Gympie have been building a lot of these trailers, although these might be Smithy's trailers. The trailers can be road towed under escort from factory to customer

What's the chance they'll reappear soon and be importing equipment made overseas to their designs? Not a reflection on their integrity, just pragmatism.
Noted in one report the comment "Unfortunately, the strategy to maintain manufacturing in Gympie did not pay off."

Another one bites the dust.
Smiths went into voluntary liquidation last week.
Management said the last straw was the loss of yet another big mining contract which went overseas.
