Looking through some old photos I came across these two.
The machine is/was a WW2 army tank that had been converted to a dozer and winch/tow vehicle. I can't tell you what the original type of tank it was.
These photos were taken at Morundah in NSW around 1960.

Birt48, not really sure helped out a mate working on a Stuart which is much smaller than your pics so possibly a Sherman although the radiator up front must be a modification to suit.

Probably a Grant set up backwards (Grant had front drive sprocket).

Here are two more both different types of tank and both in WA. Neither are Stewart which can be seen beside the road in Ilfracombe. They did modify Bren Gun Carriers as dozers so there could be some around as well.

I have seen a converted tank on a station North of Laverton WA. Not sure what type. The owner had bought it for pushing fence lines. They told me they couldn't keep the petrol up to it so pulled out the aluminium radial engine and put a 6 cylinder Gardner into it. They built a big mulga fire and melted the radial and sold the ally which covered the purchase price of the tank. It was still resting at the station bone yard when I was there 10 years back.

Ray

The tank is still sitting there. I saw it last year when I did the Anne Beadell Highway trip.

I worked on the next door station for 3 years. I always meant to get it started. It only need battery cables and fuel. Last time I seen it the cover had been taken off the exhaust and it looked pretty decrepit.
