What a great yarn!
Incredibly complex but as the video states, advanced subjects like metallurgy by leaps and bounds!
Thanks for putting that one up, Grandad!

Here's a couple more, the Crecy was interesting as it was a two-stroke sleeve valve engine. It was said that the thrust from the exhaust was equal to around a third of that from the propeller, and was pretty noisy to the point that whereas the Junkers JU-87 had a siren to cause fear on the ground the Crecy didn't need one!

Napier-Deltic well known and had been discussed quite often both on here and on other forums.
But the R/R Crecy one this reader hadn't seen discussed in as much detail as in this particular video.
Really amazing the amount of research that was invested in some of these projects, only to lose out to alternate forms of propulsion, I.e. the jet engine.
I thought that the idea of using what was really an older idea of the sleeve valve engine, proven in high end luxury automobiles as aero engines had a stroke of genius and as the video explains, the final output figures are only equaled or bettered by the best engineered hyper car engines of today!
Thanks again Grandad, makes some fascinating viewing/ reading.
