G'day everyone,
Last Saturday I took a couple of tractors along and had a bit of luck winning the 51-55 hp class. This is their first event that has been run for old tractors only and went off pretty well. Beside the tractors there were other displays and interests. Here's a few shots.
View of the tractors waiting to compete
Chamberlain 450Ka
Fordson E27N P6 which pull very well
Field Marshall Series 2
International Farmall H which struggled to get going
Oliver 90
SunshineMassey Harris 744D
Hanomag R45; a really nice old girl
Minneapolis Moline GTB with 'Anders Grips' on the wheels
Case LA
John Deere styled D
McCormick International Super AWD6 in industrial yellow
Lanz Bulldog N. These blokes will cop a carbon tax if Julia finds out!
My John Deere 3020 which picked up a win in the second run. I went up a gear and the momentum got me 4 extra metres.
Caterpillar Forty which would not steer straight and so did not go so well.
Caterpillar D4, pretty typical of these early Cat's; ticked over like a clock.

This old jigger been sitting outside my boss's shed for years.
was good to see it go to a good home.
Onya Rex!
Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

Great photos of both rallies: I felt as if I was there.
It took me ages to track Shea-Oak Log, but is a place past which I have driven: just off Sturt Hwy, Barossa Valley SA.

G'day Eddy,
You should also know the driver of the yellow Inter as he hails from up your way.
Lanz, thanks for some more pic's to look at. There is a yellow Chamberlain 236 in the back-ground of my photo's, and I have only seen them in that colour. Now I've seen an orange one so assume they were produced during the change of colour period.
Roderick, as you have found out Sheaoak Log is next to the Sturt Highway and not that far NE of Gawler. Two brothers have a private tractor and machinery museum in part of the old factory complex there and which has now moved to new premises near the glass factory.
They are a major reason for the event happening.

Also, it looks like a nice firm track, so reverse the tyres. ya don't need to dig deep for traction there, ya want max tread on the ground. That way, rather than dispersing the loose dirt out to the sides, the lugs will pull it in and pack it into nice little clumps to grab onto.

IMO ya could pick another couple metres by dropping the tyre pressures a bit.My John Deere 3020 which picked up a win in the second run. I went up a gear and the momentum got me 4 extra metres.
