CAV SL5 Starter Motor was created by Oilman
I am currently repairing the starter motor off the Gardner. It was working, but the teminal bolts were rusted badly, and couple of the other connectors were frozen and couldn't be undone and some of the wiring was a bit frayed. Does anyone happen to have a manual or exploded diagram for one of these?

Oddly enough I am currently trying to coax a Simms 12volt starter to do its stuff on a Guy Arab the link to the manual was most timely. Thankyou

I should have both on it and probably a parts list if the ID tag is still there at the terminals and readable.

i assume it says SL5 on that tag as most I've seen were either BS5 or BS6 strap on(probably older) and info would be different.

If you can put up the numbers I'll see if I can match them. Type and Des No
