Recognise this? was created by ray
Can anyone figure out what make of engine this is. It is in a hyster straddle truck. The distributor has its drive externally up the side in a tube from the camshaft to the dizzy. Carby is an updraught one but this may be unique to the application. Any ideas?

Hi Ray,

We had an old Hyster 6 ton fork and it had a donk that looked just like that. Ours donk was a model R Continental.

Might be IH, an American Black Diamond, They had a downdraft carby in the trucks. If it is one the engine number would start with BD....

Ray,

I haven't seen a Black diamond engine or a continental engine as suggested by others.

But I do remember early on that it was mentioned that the straddle truck engine etc was based on a International tractor. When you have a look at the body pannels this could be true! If so atki might be correct.

Need to find the engine number to verify.
