1972 comair bus was created by Comair
Hi all,
I am restoring a 1972 CAC Comair bus for a museum, many years ago the engine was dismantled and now many items have been lost. The engine was a 6 cyl petrol 300ci possibly? It had the compressor for the brakes and pneumatic doors fitted on the rear of the timing cover. I have a 300 ci engine from another vehicle but it doesn’t have the compressor adaption, firstly are the engines the same? Can I retro fit the compressor timing cover to this engine? If so I’m chasing the front and rear timing cover, gear set and compressor. I also need the larger diameter forward facing thermostat housing. Pic for reference, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Injector pump drive.....seems the petrol engine was available with the 330 timing gears .......so the lot should swap over .

Plenty of Bedford engines around, petrol and diesel, probably easier to buy a complete one

Yes,  keep an eye on Marketplace, gumtree and ebay. They appear quite regularly and in various conditions.

My manual says that the time gears are similar to the 220 and 330 diesel. Except that the petrol camshaft drive is made of ally. The air compressor and timing case sections also refer to the diesel section.

Service manual TS1084 is what you need. Gasoline and Diesel Engines. TS1084
