Hi All,

I have a 1970 C1300 with an AGD240 installed- Can someone advise me of the rocker gap setting?

Also- does anyone have an AGD240 manual scanned??

Thanks-
Mal

AGD240 - valve rocker arm clearance on shaft = 0.0015" - 0.0040"

intake valve clearance (hot) = 0.024" - 0.026"

exhaust valve clearance (hot) = 0.024" - 0.026"

A 1970 Cline should have a 281 .........anyhoo,the cams have extensive quietening ramps ,and you must be careful to set the clearance on each cams base circle ,or you end up with twice the cleareance ,noise and a loss of power.

Back in the day,you could get a tool called an "Autogapper" that was designed to set valve clearances with the motor running ......that way you would get the correct clearance.............Once upon a time ,I was sick of the 16mpg the IH 281s get in a ute ,and chased around to find a 240 AB ......the 240 used exactly the same fuel ...16mpg ........I would not like to be driving one today.

My Father who was a mechanic use to set the valves with the motor running always with feeler gauges, just gently move the gauge around till it wasn't grabbing and nip it up, check it and move to the next not much now that you have to set the Valves on.

It chews up all your feelers ,though ..........maybe whats needed is a IHC V8 ,they had hydraulic lifters ,and run real nice ....if someone on this forum was to give me a truck with free fuel ,Id pick a 392 V8 in an 1840 ...lovely truck.
