Hi All
Just thought I'd throw up some pic's of progress.
I know it's not true to the model but it's the way I want it and any saved old iron is good in my book.
This is part of what I stated with

Now for how things are going, it's slow as I can only get to it on pain free days (few ) but am making head way. ;)
Bonnet and grill clip in primer

Rims powder coated with new clean skins

Chassis first coat of primer

Chassis parts in Satin

Front end waiting for paint

Both guards done ready for paint, need to repair skirts still.

Looks Good Gary! Thanks for posting pic's! I don,t post much but have been following Coupeute's posts. Now I will also follow your progress. I have a L110 coupe ute that is at start/planning stage.
Is your cab rusty? Have you thought of colour or is that to far away!
Cheers Josh

Thanks for all the positive remarks to all.

Josh, I am using the cab from the donor AR130, roof is rusted around the seam badly, bottom fronts under guard and badly where the top of the cowl joins above the badges, bottom corners on back of cab, all the usual stuff :'( :'( :'(
When I had the front panels sand blasted there was a lot of damage under the "bogg"
Colour will be satin black with brilliant red trimmings
Cheers Gary,PS happy to give any help if I can

Looks like a good start Gary. Bit hard to find a truck 60+ years old that doesn't have much rust.

As the others have said. Your truck, build it the way you like it.
I reckon if you tried to build it to dead original your always gunna have someone who will come up and look at it and say "That's not right"
Do it as an modernised version of the original and they won't bother.

Just my 3pence worth.

Cheers.

Started on skirts today, this is where they have stressed cracked

Making up a new section to weld in, has anyone figured a way to brace this stress point?

Grill, it too had a lot of damage hidden

Bought these from England, off a Mk1 cortina, reckon they :D :D look pretty close to orig. ones in size and only $50/pr

If you still have the original park lights in good nick, I took the globe setup out a mounted an LED indicator inside. Then I bought semi sealed headlights with the parker integrated. Trouble is, those parkers collected dirt & rotted badly. My inner guards were not that bad. I patched a couple of cracks & will keep an eye on them. Probably not going to get the hard use to stress them too much. It's all about improvising.
