Wig-Wag low air warning

Hi guys. Were these ever used in Oz?

Found this in another forum;
In those days there were no spring brakes, when you ran out of air, you were out of brakes! The wig wag was there to let you know to wake up your partner and tell him he should get out of the bunk cause there was going to be a terrible accident and he might want to see this. ;D :D

the 1st wig wags I seen were on Euclid Dump trucks
the 1st KW we had in 1963 had a wig wag also
the laws of the land way back when
reqired th@ a truck have 2 low air warning devices
red light n buzzer twaz the go
till wig wag came in
then they used red light n wig wag
over night if u lost air the wig wag sign would cum down in front of drivers line of site n when u built up air the WW would swing up out of the way

Wig Wags
STEMCO Wig Wags are low air pressure indicators mounted above the windshield. When the pressure in the air brake system drops below a safe level, the Wig Wag arm instantly drops into the driver's forward field of view, remaining continuously visible and warning "Stop Low Air."

I've seen red levers with "STOP" cut out of it on some AECs.

Old Mercedes-Benz trucks, like Bernt D's 1924, & old and modern buses have a STOP light in the air/fuel/oil/water gauge cluster - right at the top! When the light illuminated, the driver knew to stop and investigate the problem! Had that happen once on a old OC1621 Benz bus - engine began to overheat, the STOP llght came on and the engine derated! One of the radiator hoses started leaking - leaking enough coolant out through the hose to allow the engine to overheat!

Best system out there in my humble opinion!
