Click on the link below, there are quite a few instructions on picture posting there. Good Luck, it's not too hard, once you've mastered it.

Hi Yvonne,

I will have alook at the engine number and let you know what year, the chassis number should be on the firewall and also in the RH side front chassie rail next to the stearing box. Excellent for a restoration, good condition.

Charlie.

Hi,

Just looked up in my books and for the "O" model short this is what I got for a 5 ton long wheelbase = 13' 1", but the engine number doe's not come up.
Please check again and if you can get the chassis number it would be best.
Engine numbers:
13001 to 18200 = 1945
18201 to 47963 = 1946
47964 to 70390 = 1947
70391 to 102130 = 1948
102131 to 133470 = 1949
133471 to 200000 = 1950
200001 to 226328 = 1951
226329 on = 1952,

hope this helps.

Charlie

Hi Charlie,
Thanks for puting up those numbers as it allows me to date my OSS which is a Holden body.

My engine no O 204580
chassis no OSS 203999
So by your numbers mine is a 1951 model.

Cheers Kevin

The OSS prefix indicates Short wheelbase, Scammel coupling, ie a prime mover. Maybe the chassis has been stretched at some time?.

Hi mammoth,
Yes you are quite right. When i got it of a mate it had been stretched and a tipper fitted. Did not know it was an OSS untill i cleaned all the gunk off and saw the id plate. It has now been shortened back to its correct length and i have a 1956 25' Freighter strap trailer for it.
It is next in line after i finish the 1971 TK which should be this week.
Cheers Kevin.

I would say the truck in the pic has a Holden cab not a English cab . Dave

Sorry Dave not trying to be a smart arse but that is an english cab.
The aussie cab is much nicer at the bottom of the doors as it has a nice curve and the aussie cabs dont have opening front windows.
Cheers Kevin.
