You think seller would know what he/she was selling the 2 Bedfords are both "M" models and are not "K" model as said in the advert if they were "K" models they would be worth a dollar .Dave

Gday Pete,

That must have been a very lively truck in its day.
Over here we had :-
DA2417 - Artic-Perkins 8.8 V8
DA2418 - Artic- Cummins 504 7.7 V8
DT2417 - Tandem Tipper-Perkins 8.8 V8
DT2418 - Tandem Tipper- Cummins 504 7.7 V8

All with 6 or 8 speed gearbox only

I dont know if you got both of these over your way.

Cheers
RS :)

I dont think that the Mack is an RM800 either, think it might only be an RM600, RM685RSX. Pretty sure Mack did'nt build an RM800, but it does have a big front axle.

Thanks Roland, I think we got the V185 Cummins in the D1000 but in later years they fitted Cat engines to the heavier ones.

G'day guys,

Repowering in New Zealand during the late 70's and early 80's was quite common. The economy was bad and there was quite high duties and tariffs on new trucks, so repowering was seen as a viable alternative to buying new.

The Ford 2418 was a popular recipient for Cummins 903 @ 320HP, Detroit 6V92 @ 330HP and CAT3208 as a swap for V8 504

My brother in law had a 2418 with a CAT repower, also had a 10spd RR, so the stubby little gear stick had the 2 spd diff switch, the RR range change and the clutch brake hanging off it, it was so top heavy it literary 'waved around the breeze'.

I've dug up a couple more repowers for your persual!

Repowered from new with V8 903, 15spd RR and Rockwell diffs. Also had sleeper cab extension and twin steer added

Don't know much about this one but had a 6V92 thrown in
